Jakob went to the north of Germany for the summer party at the Bergstation climbing hall, where he organized a so-called “block battle” with his friend and World Cup competitor Yannick Flohé.
This self-created format is more about having fun than a classic competition, and since Jakob is never hard to persuade with the prospect of a good atmosphere and a sporting challenge among friends, the long journey to Hilden near Düsseldorf was quickly started.

Jakob related the vibe of the evening to the general spirit among climbers “In bouldering you try to solve a problem together and everyone contributes. Everyone climbs against the route and not against the other. One just climbs the boulder better than the others and the other respects that. That's why that person deserves the win.
That's what makes climbing so great – you do it together.” Yannick adds, “I don't remember who won. The crowd was cool, I think they cheered for Jakob more than me, even though I'm the home athlete here."
